Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's initial attempts at becoming famous in the mainstream did not succeed. The singer was signed by two different record companies, but dropped prior to releasing any songs. Capitol Records, however, released Perry's Ur So Gay album in 2007, which received only modest approval with the track that was its title. I Kissed a Girl, a confident ode to her sexual curiosity set against a hard-edged electronic-pop beat, made a bigger sensation a couple of months later. The song caused controversy and some critics accused it of promoting homosexual relationships, and some asserting that the explicit sexual situation depicted in the song was intended to cater to male fantasies. I Kissed a Girl was an immediate hit for Perry's debut album One of the Boys in 2008, thanks to the combination of excitement and melody. Hot N Cold was a success in the United States, and the album's second song Hot N Cold with its interesting bouncy, sharp tongued beat became popular.
